Pay day weekend would not be complete without a spot of
beauty shopping. As well as homeware shopping, I also managed to browse Boots
and pick up a few treats!
I was in desperate need for a new gel eyeliner, after my
trusty Maybelline one had completely dried out. As it had lasted a couple of
years and is such a pigmented black colour, I decided to re-purchase it. It’s
in such a handy little pot which makes it really portable and it also comes
with a great little brush. One thing I will say about the brush is that it must
be washed after every use otherwise it will dry and clump all the hairs
together. For £7.99 for both the eyeliner and the brush, this is a steal.
As Maybelline was on 3 for 2, I also decided to pick up the
recently launched in the UK, Baby Lips. These have been out in the US for a
good year or so and they have finally landed in the UK. Although I have read mixed reviews about
these, I really wanted to try them for myself. Out of the 6 shades available, I
chose Pink Punch, which as the name suggests, is a vibrant pink. The packaging
is a little childish, but as a lip balm doesn’t make an appearance out of my handbag
very often, I wasn’t too bothered. Now, the colour pay off was better than
expected, this shade is very similar to Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable Balm
Stain in Cherish. But even though this is supposed to be a lip balm, it isn’t
very hydrating, for £2.99 I did expect better.
My final Maybelline pick was the Colour Tattoo 24 Hour Cream
Gel Eyeshadow in On And On Bronze (Bad To The Bronze in the US). Again, there
was a lot of hype around this line when it launched and seeing as I’m only just
starting to dabble in eye shadows, I hadn’t jumped at getting my hands on
these. But swatching them in store, they are lovely. They are highly pigmented, rich and creamy in
texture and are packaged similar to the MAC Paint Pots. They can be used as a
base for eyeshadows or just on their own for a quick and easy wash of colour.
For £4.99 I will definitely be picking a few more of these up.
My other beauty selections were 2 of the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine
Nail Paints as they were on buy one get one half price. This range has a lovely
colour selection and I decided to go for Papaya and Pomegranate, both of which
are vibrant and eye catching. The price point on these is brilliant for the
great quality of Barry M polishes, as these will only set you back £3.99 each.
The last item I grabbed was a Radox Fresh & Fruity Berry
Burst Shower Gel as this was on offer for £1 and I needed a new shower gel for
my gym bag. This product smells incredible and truly feels like you are washing
yourself with a fruit smoothie! They usually retail for £1.99 which is still a
great price for such a lovely scented treat for the shower.
Have you picked up any beauty products lately?
